According to Martha, “Photographing headstones takes as much skill as it does luck. Mix it with a modicum of timing and free software and you have a great combination for successfully preserving images of your ancestor’s final resting place." As Project and Publications Chair, it is her pleasure to share some of the methods she and her volunteers use to take and preserve headstone photos.

Denise, a retired
Cal Poly Business School Lecturer, has 35+ years family history
experience. She now works with BYU faculty on a model surname study,
having focused in recent years on learning about Medieval resources for the
surname study.

That Dratted Missing 1890 Census; Filling in the Gaps.”- Julia George
Julia George, a retired professor, has completed National Genealogical Society courses on Federal and Special Censuses and the NGS home study course on American Genealogy.
The problem she’ll be discussing is: Gg Uncle Madison is listed in the 1880 census with a wife and two children and in the 1900 census with a wife and two children…in two different states, with two different wives and different children. How courthouse records (probate, court cases, deeds) helped draw a picture of what happened.

Research Tools" - Robert Albert
Robert Albert was born in Bakersfield, California and has been researching family history for over 20 years. He spoke at our seminar in February and was so well-received, we’ve invited him to return and spend more time on German research. He speaks 4 languages, including German, and has made several trips to Germany to visit family and do research.

Steve will describe certain gems and tools for searching the One-Step website he created and the internet of which you might not otherwise be aware. He’ll discuss everything from genealogical search problems to identity theft risks to DNA issues. He has received many awards for his One-Step website, including two that he cannot pronounce from Polish genealogical societies. In his other life, Steve is a computer professional with an electrical engineering doctorate. He is best known as the architect of the Intel 8086 (the granddaddy of today’s Pentium processor), which sparked the PC revolution 25 years ago.
